Best Carving of a full-sized, flat bottom, non-floating, King Eider Drake. Entries will be Judged using the Division A-Decorative Lifesize Floating Wildfowl Rules. This is a separate contest from the Division A - Decorative Life-size and will not be floated.
$2250 Dr. Lyon Best of the Northwest
Best Decorative Carving of a Best Decorative Carving of Say’s Phoebe. Entries will be Judged using the Division B-Decorative Lifesize Non-Floating Wildfowl Rules.
Washington State Ducks Unlimited Purchase Awards
The first ($400), 2nd ($300), and 3rd ($200) places become the property of DU. The species will be a Canvasack Drake carved using the Division D. Style Decoys-IWCA rules.
$500 Feather & Quill Purchase Award
Selected from carvings from all the competition categories and the “Gallery Table”. The winning carving will become the Raffle Prize for the drawing held at the 2024 Columbia Flyway Wildfowl Show. There will be no Feather & Quill Purchase Award at the 2024 show
Competition Division ‘E2’ - International Designated Working Decoy Championship Sponsored by the Washington Brant Foundation - 1st Place Purchase Award $500
The designated decoy for the 2024 contest will be a Drake Mallard and must be made of wood, canvas, or cork. To ensure uniformity and fairness, the following regulations apply:
Prohibited Features: Detailed bills, Carved nostrils, Carved nail
Permitted Features: Slight mandible separation, Undercut primaries (must be sturdy), Texturing (excluding stoning or burning techniques)
Simple painting techniques required
Testing Process:
During testing, decoys will be placed in the tank bottom-up, pushed to be submerged, and must self-right. Each decoy will undergo this test twice to ensure consistent evaluation of their functionality and performance in water.
These regulations ensure a fair and consistent evaluation of the decoys' functionality and performance in water.
The 1st place will be purchased by the Washington Brant Foundation and auctioned at the Foundation's annual event as a fundraiser.

Competition Division ‘PA MS’ Mini-Shorebird Purchase Award. Open to All Skill Levels
In conjunction with the Washington Brant Association, we are excited to announce a new Purchase Award Contest. The subject for this contest will be any species of shorebird or wading bird. The size requirement for the bird is 4 inches from the breast to the tip of the tail. There are no restrictions on carving, painting, or bases.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place birds will be purchased by the Washington Brant Foundation and auctioned at the Foundation's annual event as a fundraiser.
